- Smart House
At the CENELEC TC 205/WG 16 held on 17 January 2002 it had been agreed by CONSENSUS to set up a CENELEC workshop (open meeting) “Smart House” hereafter referred to as “WS-SMH” with the below objectives of broad and transparent consultation in the mandated field of Smart House standardisation with appropriate emphasis on Design for All and Assistive Technologies. This workshop is organized by CENELEC; an important milestone is the report of July 2003. If you are interested to join this workshop, send a mail to ict@cenelec.org
- Accessibility in Collective Transport Systems (ACTS)
Provides guidance to writers of standards relating to collective transport systems on how to take into account the needs of potential passengers with functional limitations, especially older persons and persons with disabilities. This workshop is a joined collaboration CEN/CENELEC: http://www.cenorm.be/standardization/tech_bodies/workshop/otherthanICT/ws16.htm
For many years CEN and CENELEC have been very active on addressing the needs of persons with disabilities in the development of specific standards in the area of assistive technology and accessible design. In addition over the last five years CEN and CENELEC have been working for the development of relevant standards and other guidance documents for everyday products and services that take into account people with special needs. As a result of this efforts CEN/CENELEC Guide 6:2002 ‘Guidelines for standards developers to address the needs of older persons and persons with disabilities’ (ISO/IEC Guide 71:2001) was published. Considering the generic nature of CEN/CENELEC Guide 6, a need for the development of sector specific guides, covering specific elements which can be important for standards developers of these sectors has been identified. Specific guidance provided to writers of relevant standards relating to collective transport systems on how to take account of the needs of potential passengers with functional limitations, especially older persons and persons with disabilities, would favour their implementation of CEN/CENELEC Guide 6.
The first meeting of the Workshop took place on 29 September 2003 in Brussels. If you want to be an active member and therefore be included in the consensus process, you can contact ict@cenelec.org
- Manual for Calculating Combined Heat and Power (CHP)
The objective of this CEN Workshop is to issue internationally accepted calculation rules for determining the plant-specific production of CHP (Combined Heat and Power) electricity. These rules shall be applicable to all CHP technologies and be fuel neutral. This workshop is a joined collaboration CEN/CENELEC: http://www.cenorm.be/standardization/tech_bodies/workshop/otherthanICT/ws14.htm
In the European Union, approximately 10 % of all electricity is currently generated by Combined Heat and Power (CHP). Manufacturers, owners, operators, government agencies, associations, engineering companies and customers share the interest in one widely recognized set of technically correct and accurate calculation methodologies in the field of CHP. EUROHEAT and POWER, the international association for combine heat and power, has developed guidelines for the calculation of the share of CHP electricity produced in CHP plants, formulated with the state of the art. Other initiatives/research have served as a basis to these guidelines, referred to as “Manual” which could be found by activating the following link: http://www.euroheat.org/workgroup2/EHP%20CHP%20manual%2023.01.03%20revised.pdf The aim of the CEN Workshop is: to further enlarge the communication process to allow for justified adjustments to take into account results from pilot testing and to achieve widest possible acceptance. The kick-off meeting of this Workshop was held on 5 May 2003. ________________________________________________________________________________________
